Nestled within the lush rural landscape of Lakshmipur, this modest rectangular mosque embraces simplicity and spiritual profundity. The design was conceived with two pivotal thoughts: creating a column-free volume and a space with an essence of infiniteness. The goal was to provide a barrier-free mono-space for a deep spiritual sojourn, amplifying solemnity through its vaulted roof. This architectural choice creates an essence of infiniteness, consciously elevating the mind towards a submissive strata towards the infinite existence of one’s creator. The absence of columns instantaneously eliminates spatial noise and secures spiritual calmness, allowing for a silent play of light and shadow throughout the day. slit openings in the north-south direction and within the vaulted roof ensure natural ventilation, while the curvature of the vault reflects heat, maintaining a cooler inner sanctum. An off-centric eastern entrance carves out a transversal portion of the vaulted mass, creating an open-sky preparation space before leading into the main prayer hall in the west. The transparent western facade, intentionally open to an adjacent pond, acts as a spatial buffer, casting a silent play of light and shadow and accentuating the vista as an essence of infinity.
