ESCAPE DEN

Set within a sprawling open landscape, the design draws inspiration from traditional homes, emphasizing horizontal spatial relationships—like open courtyards and detached functional zones—reimagined through modular container units. Supported by a skeletal structure of steel, the container boxes are arranged in interlocking perpendicular patterns forming various pockets of spaces and a courtyard that exhibit an airy presence keeping in tune with the open land.

Prospects of future functionality forging integration with nature, led to utilization of reclaimed shipping containers with a modular design proposition which is open to further modifications, would help reduce carbon footprint and cost. A leafy cloak, grown over time, atop the container roofs act as natural insulation, while branches and foliage of the surrounding trees slowly weave into the corners and crevices that seep onto the open terraces. With a triple height atrium upon entry, greeted by the almond tree and cascading green veil, evokes an inviting ambiance into the design.

The rusty facade prone to weathering accompanied by an array of vegetation left and right mimics the earthy toned aesthetic that evolves over time. Thoughtful design details, varied orientations and floating platforms supported by intertwining stairs aid to reduce the hefty look of the structure. With minimal landscaping and a broad front yard, accentuating the presence of the build form, the entirety serves fit as the ideal serene abode.
